City of St Augustine enacts mandatory face covering ordinance

Historic City News subscribers are being notified that the by the St Augustine City Commission has enacted Administrative Order 2020-11, pursuant to Resolution 2020-22, creating the following regulations. These several regulations became effective today, Saturday June 27, 2020, at 12:01 a.m. and remain in effect in the City of St Augustine for so long as a state of emergency is in effect or unless otherwise modified or repealed.

Florida restricts on-premises alcohol consumption

The Department of Business and Professional Regulation reported to Historic City News that, effective today, all vendors licensed to sell alcoholic beverages for consumption on the premises who derive more than 50% of gross revenue from such sales of alcoholic beverages shall suspend such sales of alcoholic beverages for consumption on the premises.

Historic City News was notified by the Florida Department of Transportation Public Information Officer, Allen Nelson, that traffic will be impacted at the following St Augustine and St Johns County locations where roadwork is being conducted.

On Sunday, June 21 at 11:01 a.m., St. Johns County District 1 Commissioner Jimmy Johns wrote on his re-election campaign Facebook page that he had “the honor of attending the dedication of St Johns County’s newest ball field, Keith Martin Field.” According to two Historic City News readers, that “honor” might not have been mutual.

Historic City News was informed that on Monday, a lawsuit was filed in Federal Court, including a request for an emergency temporary restraining order seeking to prevent the City of St. Augustine from removing the oldest Confederate memorial in Florida.
