Tax certificates to be sold against delinquent property next week

Historic City News has been provided with an update from Dennis W. Hollingsworth, St. Johns County Tax Collector, as his office recovers from a shutdown caused by the Coronavirus pandemic.  The Main Office located at the St Johns County Courthouse, the Julington Creek branch, and Ponte Vedra Beach branch are all open to serve residents of St Johns County, Monday through Friday, from 8:30 a.m. until 5:00 p.m., until further notice.

It is with deepest sorrow that the family of James Samuel Stuart announces to Historic City News his sudden passing on Sunday May 3, 2020 at age 64 from complications related to COVID-19.  Jimmy was born in St. Augustine, Florida in August 1955.

After much reflection, thought and prayer, I have determined to endorse Chris Strickland for our next sheriff.  When I withdrew from consideration for this office, I was not certain if I would make an endorsement.  However, I believe that my supporters, the people who trust and believe in me, will benefit from this recommendation.

On August 26, 2011, Historic City News reported that, following the execution of several search warrants and review of DNA test results, detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Sean A. Bush in connection with the nearly three-month-old murder of his 35-year-old wife, Nicole Elise Bush.  Yesterday, the Florida Supreme Court upheld the conviction and death sentence.
