As part of the widening and reconstruction improvements at the San Marco Avenue and May Street intersection, traffic on US-1 (Ponce de Leon Boulevard) will shift slightly between Dismukes Street and west San Carlos Avenue Friday, February 22nd barring inclement weather and unforeseen circumstances.

Florida Department of Environmental Protection’s Office of Resilience and Coastal Protection, in partnership with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, have invited Historic City News readers to enjoy a guided walking tour of the Guana Peninsula held on the first Saturday of every month.

Flagler College’s Women of Vision Advisory Board announced to Historic City News last week that the fifth annual Power of the Purse luncheon is planned for May 9th in the historic Ponce de Leon Hall.

Historic City News was notified by Florida Department of Transportation Public Information Officer, Allen Nelson, that traffic will be impacted at the following St Augustine and St Johns County locations where roadwork is being conducted.

Be alert to lane closures and temporary detours, as well as increased congestion in these areas.  FDOT employees and contractors will be working on the roadways and need your full attention.

Cindy Walker, spokesman for the City of St Augustine Beach, reported to Historic City News that during the next 90-days, Florida Power and Light will be improving the feeder that extends along Pope Road over to SR-A1A Beach Boulevard.

Historic City News was notified that the St. Augustine Jewish Historical Society is mourning the February 16th death of Al Vorspan, a giant in the movement for Social Justice among Reform Jews.  Vorspan, although not a rabbi himself, was arrested here in St. Augustine, along with 16 Rabbis, making for the largest mass arrest of Rabbis in U.S. history.
