Law enforcement responds to scare at local high school

Earlier this morning Historic City News learned that an anonymous source sent a message through a social media network to a student at St Augustine High School.  The student shared the message out of concern and “several units” responded, according to a press release from the St Johns County Sheriff’s Office.

Historic City News was notified by spokesperson Kelly Wilson that St Johns County Emergency Management is monitoring a potential tropical cyclone centered about 620 miles southwest of the mouth of the Mississippi River.  The potential tropical cyclone is moving at nearly 8 mph.

Earlier today, Noreen Nickola-Williams, Director of the Office of Public Health Practice and Policy for the Florida Department of Health in St. Johns County, alerted Historic City News to an increase in mosquito-borne disease in St Johns County.

Bova will serve life in prison for 2013 first-degree murder

This afternoon, Joseph Frank Bova II, who turns 32-years-old in December, was convicted of first-degree murder after a jury in Bunnell listened to evidence presented during a five-day trial. The Flagler County jury deliberated only 39-minutes before returning a guilty verdict.

Tuesday morning at about 10:00 a.m., Florida Highway Patrol information officer MSgt. Dylan L. Bryan reported to Historic City News that a pilot made a hard landing on takeoff from the Northeast Florida Regional Airport.
