An emotionally charged meeting of the Board of Governors of the Florida School for the Deaf and Blind was attended by Historic City News Editor Michael Gold on Friday morning; along with staff and elected officials from the City of St Augustine and residents of two anxious neighborhoods that adjoin the campus.

Historic City News has learned additional details from St Augustine Police Department sources in yesterday’s arrest of 43 year-old Miguel Angel Gonell who remains in custody this afternoon in lieu of $100,000 bond.

Just after midnight this morning, St Augustine Police Officers booked Miguel Angel Gonell into the St Johns County Detention Facility — where he remains in custody in lieu of $100,000 bond.

Historic City News has learned from the office of United States Attorney Robert E. O’Neill, that 67 year-old Lydia Cladek who at one time lived in an oceanfront mansion at 189 Sea Colony Parkway in St Augustine Beach, has been convicted by jury on all counts of wire, mail fraud and conspiracy.

Marine Rescue Lieutenant Jeremy Robshaw, reminded Historic City News that St Johns County Fire Rescue will hold its annual lifeguard tryouts for the 2012 beach season this weekend.

A 26 year-old man who was reported missing on January 12, by the South Daytona Beach Police Department, is believed to be the man whose body was recovered from Salt Run yesterday.

St Johns County Sheriff David Shoar told local Historic City News reporters in St Augustine that, somewhere along the line, the county has lost essential mental health treatment options that now place an increased, and perhaps misplaced, burden on law enforcement.
