Historic City News inspected the towering 16-foot wall on the former Parker Cadillac lot at San Marco and Park Avenues and can report that it is the real thing – or as close as Chuck Ponce can make it to an early St. Augustine fort.

West King intersection to close temporarily

Historic City News was informed by the St. Johns County Public Works Department that South Leonardi Street at West King Street will be closed to all vehicular traffic from 7:00 a.m. Monday, November 9th, until 5:00 p.m. Friday, November 13th.

Sanchez serves as chair during last year of term

As the roll was called at their annual reorganization meeting, Historic City News watched as the St. Johns County Board of County Commissioners elected Commissioner Ron Sanchez from District 2 to serve as Chair for the 2009-2010 fiscal year.

Last night Mayor Joe Boles addressed between 150 and 200 citizens; including some Historic City News readers who were on hand at Flagler College Auditorium to learn more about the strategic plan for the 450th Commemoration.

Today, in recognition of National Adoption Month, Governor Charlie Crist encouraged renewed focus on adopting teenagers from state foster care in an announcement received by Historic City News.

Firefighters respond to multi-story beach condo

St. Johns County Fire Rescue Public Information Officer Jeremy Robshaw reported to Historic City News that Monday afternoon, firefighters responded to a structure fire at Sand Dollar II condominium complex near Crescent Beach.

Chamber forums address human resource issues

Tara Howard with the St. Johns County Chamber of Commerce reported to Historic City News that the Chamber has recently re-implemented a forum where human resource professionals can address some of the challenges they face in management of employees in both large and small organizations.
