The Florida Highway Patrol reported to Historic City News tonight that troopers are monitoring a 185-acre prescribed burn in the Guana River State Park in St. Johns County. Smoke from the burn is affecting driving conditions as far away as SR-202 (J. Turner Butler Boulevard) between Kernan and Hodges Boulevard, in Duval County.
Historic City News reporters watched as six-proposed city ordinances came before the St Augustine City Commission this evening for a second-reading and final action; each ordinance read by title only and approved.
On January 15th, Historic City News reported an active investigation underway following a shooting incident that occurred about 8:45pm the night before. On investigation, officers determined that the shooting occurred in the area of McMillan Street and Ponce de Leon Boulevard. It appears that the victim fled the scene on foot after the shooting, according to Brown.
During the legislative period ending February 21, 2020, Barbara Peterson reported nine pages of updates to Historic City News on Bills being tracked by the Florida First Amendment Foundation, Inc. The issues being tracked include court records, criminal justice and law enforcement, education, financial information, home addresses, personal information, public records, public safety and security, regulated industries and professions, technology, and transparency.
Historic City News was notified by Florida Department of Transportation Public Information Officer, Allen Nelson, that traffic will be impacted at the following St Augustine and St Johns County locations where roadwork is being conducted.
Pursuant to Section 403.077, F.S., the Florida Department of Environmental Protection informed local Historic City News reporters that they have received the following Public Notice of Pollution for a reportable release that occurred within St Johns County.
Historic City News and members of the St Augustine Fire Department are mourning the loss of a truly amazing man today. Lt. Rufus (Bubba) Stratton (Retired) passed away Saturday morning, surrounded by his family in St Augustine, Florida.
