Executive Director Bryan Shorstein, speaking for the office of 7th Circuit State Attorney R. J. Larizza, reported to Historic City News this afternoon after a St Johns County jury returned an acquittal verdict in the case of State of Florida vs Anthony Deleo.

During the execution of a search warrant on Tuesday, September 7, 2021, Historic City News was informed that enough fentanyl to kill 481,000 people, more than the population of St Johns and Flagler County combined, was seized by deputies in Palm Coast.

Department of Corrections officials reported to Historic City News on Wednesday that the woman who once controlled the multi-million-dollar budget of St Johns County’s ex-sheriff, David B Shoar, has begun the reception and classification process of her 7-year, 4-month, and 11-day sentence in Florida’s prison system.

Despite a civil money judgment against her for more than $680,000 awarded on March 24, 2020, as well as a late confession of guilt to a series of fraudulent, criminal activities, including theft and embezzlement of county taxpayer money, Raye Annette Brutnell made a rare appearance in court before Judge R. On Friday, FDLE spokesman Gretl Plessinger reported the graduation of 39 first-line supervisors from the Florida Criminal Justice Executive Institute.  These graduates serve in leadership roles in 27 criminal justice agencies throughout the state, including two sergeants from the St Augustine Police Department.
