County spokesman Michael Ryan announced to local Historic City News reporters that St. Johns County has named a new interim director and deputy director of emergency management, which is tasked with helping the county respond to the COVID-19 pandemic and other emergencies.

Although the City of St Augustine Beach announced to Historic City News last week that they would not adopt a similar ordinance, and the St Johns County Commission announced neither would they, the latest overzealous order adopted by Mayor Upchurch and his crew, a mandatory mask ordinance, has triggered a lawsuit against city taxpayers.

Historic City News was notified by the Florida Department of Transportation Public Information Officer, Allen Nelson, that traffic will be impacted at the following St Augustine and St Johns County locations where roadwork is being conducted.

The Florida Department of Health issued a Public Health Advisory on June 20 in response to COVID-19, providing recommendations to protect Floridians and visitors from this virus.

Historic City News articles show that graffiti has been an issue in downtown St Augustine in recent years.  Under instructions from city manager John Regan, the local police department has been quiet about such incidents, offering little or no information to the media.

St Johns County sheriff’s patrol shift leader, Napolian Junior Staggers, was arrested after a domestic disturbance escalated to gunfire at a home in Ponte Vedra Beach this morning at about 1:17 a.m. according to a report received by Historic City News.
