Man accused of masturbating in public

Twice in the past week, a man, described as white, older man with salt and pepper hair, driving a silver colored NISSAN Frontier, has been observed masturbating in public according to an incident report filed by Deputy Christopher Collins yesterday evening.

Two teenage boys each had accounts of seeing the man in the area of Olga Street in Hastings.

Sheriff releases annual report

Monday, the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office released the winter 2008 issue of their public information periodical; Community Watch Magazine. Included in this quarter’s issue is the 2007 Annual Report that details services provided and costs associated with the various divisions and bureaus within the agency.

Expensive drive-off

Pilot Travel Centers on CR 210 was the victim of a diesel fuel “drive-off” yesterday morning, according to an incident report filed by Deputy Craig Maguire.

Fortunately, the station can identify the man who they say obtained over $400.00 worth of diesel fuel without paying. In accordance with station policy, the suspect was required to leave his driver’s license and a cash deposit with the cashier before fueling.

Woman avoids Internet scam

A St. Johns woman narrowly avoided becoming a victim to an apparent Internet scam according to an incident report filed by Deputy Sheriff Gabe Bagby this weekend.

The complainant is a “mystery shopper” which is a tool used by market research companies to measure quality of retail service.

Ag Center burglary nets almost $30,000

Detectives with the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office Property Crimes Unit are investigating a burglary that occurred at the Agricultural Center, according to an incident report filed by the center’s director, David Dinkins, early Friday morning.

Stolen was nearly $30,000.00 worth of county owned agricultural equipment including a John Deere tractor; itself worth over $27,000.00.

Two FCTI students arrested

Student arrested
Two female students attending classes at First Coast Technical Institute on Collins Avenue were arrested this week on charges of disruption of a school function; one of whom was also charged with resisting arrest without violence, battery on a school board employee, and violation of probation.
