In the interest of public safety and in an effort to minimize the impact of COVID-19 within our community, the following St. Johns County facilities and programs are closed to the public, or have been cancelled, from March 16 through March 29, 2020:

During the recent meeting of the St Augustine City Commission, the mayor and commissioners voted unanimously to move an ordinance to its final reading and public hearing.  The wide-ranging ordinance regulates city parks, venues, and facilities, and would affect things such as group feedings, and assemblies.

Historic City News was informed by the City of St Augustine that, In an abundance of caution and based on the recommendations of the Governor’s office and the Florida Department of Health, they have executed an administrative order relating to Public Health Emergency 20-15 (COVID).

Last week, we announced the receipt of documents and attachments from a poll that was conducted by students of the University of North Florida under the supervision of associate professor of political science, Dr. Michael Binder. 

Eight days of early voting in Florida’s Presidential Preference Primary began Saturday in St. Johns County as dozens of counties across the state begin the voting process that others began earlier in the week.

Friday, the Florida House moved a trio of bills expanding the scopes of service for advanced practice registered nurses, physician assistants, and pharmacists.  House Speaker Jose Oliva described these bills as priority legislation.  Historic City News previously reported as this legislation advanced.

St Johns County Supervisor of Elections Vicky Oakes wants to remind Historic City News voters that today, Saturday, March 7, 2020, is the deadline to request that the Elections Office mail a vote-by-mail ballot to you.  If you prefer to vote at home, the deadline is 5:00 p.m. to make your request.
