Historic City News has learned that three advocacy groups are poised to sue the State of Florida if the Department of Corrections attempts to enforce a blanket denial of Internet access from state prisoners.

Historic City News was notified that half of a two-man team of thieves, who schemed to steal a 23-year-old St Augustine woman’s purse and its contents, was convicted by a St Johns County jury today and sentenced to 15-years in state prison — followed by 10-years’ probation.

A 31-year-old Lincolnville man called the St Augustine Police Department yesterday at about 11:15 a.m., claiming to be the victim of an attack at the scene of a political function being held by Republican Congressman, Ron DeSantis.

About ten minutes ago, Florida Highway Patrol Sergeant Dylan Bryan advised local Historic City News reporters that traffic in all lanes of US-1, north and south, have reopened after having been closed for more than 3 hours this morning while officers investigated a fatal vehicle-vs-pedestrian crash.

St Johns County Sergeant Michael Strausbaugh is asking Historic City News readers for assistance identifying two women, caught on surveillance video, in the act of stealing a woman’s purse from a baby stroller in the GAP Outlet located at 2700 SR-16 in St Augustine.

Criminal Investigation Unit Detective, Jennifer Trotzke, asked Historic City News readers to help the St Augustine Police Department to identify two women seen in this surveillance video image, taken at about 4:30 p.m. on July 27.
