Five proposed new ordinances to be reviewed Monday night

During the first meeting of the new year, Historic City News reporters will be watching Monday evening when St Augustine city commissioners consider five new ordinances on first reading.  If approved, the ordinances will advance to public hearing and final action at a later time, typically at the following meeting.

Historic City News readers are patriotically invited to attend the upcoming meeting of the Saint Augustine Tea Party. Please arrive early as seating will be limited. Germain sentenced to life for attempted murder of deputy

A St. Augustine man was sentenced to life in prison Wednesday, months after being convicted of attempted first-degree murder of a St. Johns County Sheriff’s Deputy, according to sheriff’s office records.  Brad Germain, 42, was convicted in November after the State Attorney’s Office said he attempted to murder a deputy with a homemade pipe gun.
