When the casual up-scale Hyatt Place opens its doors to the public this fall on Vilano Beach, Historic City News has learned that the onsite dining and accompanying rooftop bar will be under the operation of a familiar face to the St Augustine business and dining community, Chef Michael Lugo.

Council on Aging announces February programs at River House

Carolyn Karger reported to Historic City News today that the following programs will be held at the Council on Aging’s River House, located at 179 Marine Street in St. Augustine.  Registration is required and space is limited for the 4-week long classes that begin in the first full week of February.

St Johns County Martin Luther King, Jr Holiday Office Hours

All departments of the St Johns County Board of County Commissioners and Administrative offices, St Johns County library branches, the Property Appraiser’s office, the Tax Collector’s office, the Clerk of Courts’ office, and the Supervisor of Elections’ office will be closed Monday, January 17, in observance of the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday.

Fire Safety Inspector Abby Pedigo named Fire Marshal

St Augustine Fire Chief Carlos Aviles announced to Historic City News reporters that Fire Safety Inspector Abby Pedigo has been selected as the City’s next Fire Marshal.  Pedigo will succeed retiring Fire Marshal Bob Growick effective Wednesday, February 23, 2022.
