While cautioning Historic City News readers that strands of Christmas lights should not be disposed of in recycle bins, the City of St. Augustine reminds the community to set unadorned holiday trees curbside for pick-up with regularly scheduled yard waste collections. 

On Monday, December 23rd, at 5:45 p.m., Chabad of St Johns invites Historic City News families to participate in the Chanukah Helicopter Gelt Drop; when chocolate coins will rain down from the sky at the Nocatee Splash Park.  Giving gelt (money) to children at Chanukah is an ancient Jewish custom.

The Career and Technical Education Office invited Historic City News readers to attend the “Programs of Choice Showcase” with their St Johns County middle and high school students on Thursday, January 9th at the World Golf Village Convention Center.

The St Johns County Planning and Zoning Department reported to Historic City News that an applicant-sponsored community meeting is being held to allow the public an opportunity to learn about and participate in the planning for a project proposed for the northwest sector of St Johns County.

Historic City News was notified by Florida Department of Transportation Public Information Officer, Allen Nelson, that traffic will be impacted at the following St Augustine and St Johns County locations where roadwork is being conducted.

St Augustine Yacht Club Commodore, Barbara Dolan, announced to local Historic City News reporters that there are still a couple of days left to register your vessel and participate in this year’s Regatta of Lights.

Christina Parrish Stone, St Johns Cultural Council Executive Director, reported to Historic City News today the names of eight local arts organizations selected to receive Fall 2019 State of the Arts grants.
