Patrician Price, spokesperson for the GTM Research Reserve in Ponte Vedra Beach, reported to Historic City News that readers can learn the basics of the human behavior change process for today’s environmental issues during the next Marineland Lecture Series event.

Historic City News learned this week that former one-term St Johns County Commissioner, Ken Bryan, has been summoned to appear in Flagler County court to answer defamation charges brought by lawyers for Sunbelt Holdings Florida I LLC, of Nevada; and its parent company, Sunbelt Land Management LLC, of Delaware.

A funeral is scheduled at Craig Funeral Home for Michael Dennis Hiers; at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 4th with a reception to follow at the St. Augustine Shrine Club.  Mike, who was 61-years-old, died peacefully on January 28, 2020 at home after a long battle with cancer.

Historic City News was notified by Florida Department of Transportation Public Information Officer, Allen Nelson, that traffic will be impacted at the following St Augustine and St Johns County locations where roadwork is being conducted.

Be alert to lane closures and temporary detours, as well as increased congestion in these areas. FDOT employees and contractors will be working on the roadways and need your full attention.

Patrician Price reported to Historic City News that two Guana-Tolomato-Matanzas National Estuarine Research Reserve volunteers have been honored with a Daily Point of Light Award.  Ruben Allen and Jeff Finnan were recognized for their outstanding community service.

Among Monday’s activities commemorating the birthday of Civil Rights leader Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. was a gathering at the site of the confederate veteran’s memorial in St Augustine’s Plaza de la Constitution.  Historic City News local reporters interviewed Harold Kenneth (H. K.) Edgerton who was holding what he called a Table of Brotherhood ceremony. Edgerton said, “I am here in the footsteps of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., to fulfill his dream on his birthday.”
