Historic City News readers are patriotically invited to attend the upcoming meeting of the Saint Augustine Tea Party. Please arrive early as seating will be limited. Chairman Lance Thate will call the meeting to order Tuesday evening, January 14th at 6:30 p.m., at the Mellow Mushroom Restaurant, located at 410 Anastasia Boulevard in St Augustine.

Starting on Monday, January 13th through Thursday, January 16th, Historic City News has learned that the fuel dock at the St. Augustine Municipal Marina will be shut down in order to replace all diesel and gasoline fuel dispensers.  New fuel dispensers will be installed.

Lincolnville Jazz at the Excelsior features a number of highly regarded and talented artists in a series of performances on select Fridays January through May 2020.

Historic City News was notified by Florida Department of Transportation Public Information Officer, Allen Nelson, that traffic will be impacted at the following St Augustine and St Johns County locations where roadwork is being conducted.

St Johns County Director of Communications, Michael Ryan, reported to Historic City News today that the ocean and fishing pier will be closed beginning on Monday, January 6th.  Repairs and rehabilitation are expected to continue through May 2020.

The City of St Augustine Beach announced to local Historic City News reporters that their Sustainability and Environmental Planning Advisory Council is conducting a “Climate Change Challenge” survey until March 25, 2020.

While cautioning Historic City News readers that strands of Christmas lights should not be disposed of in recycle bins, the City of St. Augustine reminds the community to set unadorned holiday trees curbside for pick-up with regularly scheduled yard waste collections. 

On Monday, December 23rd, at 5:45 p.m., Chabad of St Johns invites Historic City News families to participate in the Chanukah Helicopter Gelt Drop; when chocolate coins will rain down from the sky at the Nocatee Splash Park.  Giving gelt (money) to children at Chanukah is an ancient Jewish custom.
