As Historic City News readers in Florida prepare for Hurricane Dorian this Labor Day weekend, Sheriff Rick Staly has deployed the Flagler County Jail Inmate Work Crew to Malacompra Park, 115 Malacompra Road, in the Hammock area of Palm Coast, to help fill sandbags for residents.

Florida National Guard Director of Public Affairs, Major Caitlin Brown, reported to Historic City News this afternoon that the Guard has begun preparations in anticipation of Hurricane Dorian.

Historic City News learned that as of 12:00 p.m. today, the City of St. Augustine is providing free sandbags and a do-it-yourself bag fill at Francis Field on West Castillo Drive (32084) in preparation for expected flooding in the City.

St. Johns County Emergency Management media spokesperson Kelly Wilson updated local Historic City News reporters this morning on the status of Hurricane Dorian as we look forward to a wet weekend in Northeast Florida.

A forum to address issues directly impacting the St Johns River is being held Monday morning, August 26, 2019, from 10:00 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. at the St Johns River Center, located at 102 North 1st Street in Palatka (32177).

Historic City News was notified by the Florida Department of Transportation Public Information Officer, Allen Nelson, that traffic will be impacted at the following St Augustine and St Johns County locations where roadwork is being conducted.
