Future of special taxing districts uncertain

Governor Rick Scott will issue an executive order to review most of the special taxing districts in the state according to an announcement from budget director, Jerry McDaniel, during a presentation he made Thursday before the Senate Budget Committee.

Spitting burglar sitting at Crossbar Hotel

A convenience store clerk working at the Kangaroo in the 4500 block of US-1 North in St Augustine, reported to sheriff’s deputies yesterday that he confronted a 20 year-old St Johns County man after he was observed inside the clerk’s vehicle.

Whetstone: I’ll take this as far as necessary

Owner Henry M. Whetstone responded to yesterday’s decision by the City Planning and Zoning Board to “table” until their February meeting the application from Bayfront Inn, Inc., to construct a 270-foot dock into the Matanzas Bay, by saying he is prepared to take his request “as far as necessary”.
