Sonia Colyer announced to Historic City News in St Augustine that volunteers are needed for the 2012 St Johns County sea turtle wash-back program; providing assistance to distressed juvenile sea turtles that have washed ashore because they became entangled in seaweed — commonly following a storm.
Vilano Beach merchants and Town Center planners announced to local Historic City News reporters that this month’s Sunset Celebration, held on the first Saturday at the Vilano Beach Pier, would feature dozens of market vendors and Town Center businesses.

On the St Johns County Board of Commissioners, Historic City News has discovered that only Cyndi Stevenson, District 1, has taken a voluntary pay cut since the enactment of Chapter 2011-158, Laws of Florida, which took effect on July 1 of last year, and provided that each member of a board of county commissioners, clerk of circuit court, sheriff, supervisor of elections, property appraiser, and tax collector was authorized to voluntarily reduce his or her salary rate.
