Twelfth anniversary of the AMBER Alert
Historic City News reporters received a reminder from Florida Department of Law Enforcement Commissioner Gerald Bailey that this year marks the 12th anniversary of the inception of Florida’s AMBER Alert Plan; which gets the word out statewide when a child is abducted.



All departments of the St Johns County Board of County Commissioners, St. Johns County Administrative offices, branches of the Public Library, and the Pet Center will be closed Monday, September 3 in observance of the Labor Day holiday.
Laurie Sanderson reported the following St. Augustine and St. Johns County locations to Historic City News where the Florida Department of Transportation will be conducting roadwork that is expected to have an impact on driving, beginning this morning and continuing through the coming week.

NPS Ranger Joe Brehm reported to Historic City News that Labor Day, Monday September 3, would be the last day that Castillo de San Marcos National Monument will be open extended hours, as the fort’s fall operating schedule returns.
Today, Historic City News reporters received a copy of the response that was sent to the National Park Service on behalf of St Johns County; requesting that the General Management Plan for the Fort Matanzas National Monument include a provision allowing vehicular access to the beach in “an environmentally responsible manner”.
St Johns County homeowners, who are part of a class of victims of suspicious foreclosure practices in Florida, have received a share of $1.7 billion in assistance including primary and secondary lien principal forgiveness, refinancing and deficiency waivers, according to Attorney General Pam Bondi — but, there is more to come.
