About two-weeks ago complaints began coming in to Historic City News and the City of St Augustine concerning a business that has obtained a license to operate inside the city limits but may be operating outside the law. Concerns have been recorded at the last two city commission meetings from members of the public during the public comment periods.
TDC Funding panelists will be selected Monday
When the St. Johns County Tourist Development Council meets tomorrow afternoon, members will decide whether to accept the seven applicants for the seven available seats on the controversial Category II Funding Panel; the committee that recommends who does and doesn’t get a piece of the bed tax pie, and how much.
UF Historic St Augustine delays action on monument
The Friday morning meeting of the UF Historic St Augustine Board of Directors was called to order by Chairman Allen L. Lastinger, Jr. promptly at 10:00 a.m. But, if anyone at the table was expecting a “short meeting”, that was not to be.
When it comes to storm drains, its only rain down the drain
The City of St Augustine issued a public service announcement to remind Historic City News readers about the need to keep illicit discharge hazards, like leaves and yard debris, out of the city’s storm drains to properly maintain the storm water system.
FDOT road repairs and maintenance report
Historic City News was notified by Florida Department of Transportation Public Information Officer, Monica R. Reifeiss, that traffic will be impacted at the following
St Augustine and St Johns County locations where roadwork is being conducted.
Be alert to lane closures and temporary detours, as well as increased congestion in these areas. FDOT employees and contractors will be working on the roadways and need your full attention.
UF quietly starts Loring Monument public discussion
Sunshine Week couldn’t have come at a more opportune time in St Augustine as the UF Historic St Augustine, Inc. direct service organization, managing the lease on Florida’s state-owned properties, attempts to hold a controversial public Special Board of Directors Meeting in a not-so-public way.
