Former JSO deputy admits sex trafficking of a 4-year-old girl
A 60-year-old former Duval County deputy sheriff has pled guilty to attempted commercial sex trafficking of a child and faces a minimum mandatory penalty of 15-years to life in federal prison after he solicited an adult woman in Texas to sexually abuse her 4-year-old daughter, take photographs of the abuse, and then sell the photographs to him.
Parking lots re-opening at Guana Research Reserve
Although today’s forecast won’t encourage you to take advantage of it, resource management coordinator Joe Burgess, reported to Historic City News this morning that the South Beach Access Parking Lot at the Guana Tolomato Matanzas Research Reserve has officially reopened, having been closed for repairs since October.

Two cars strike and kill pedestrian on SR-16
Just before 2:00 a.m. this morning, Historic City News was informed that a 48-year-old St Augustine man, Mark Burger, had been struck by two vehicles as he stood in the traffic lane at SR-16 at North 1st Street. The victim died at the scene.
Sentencing for defendants in convenience store murder
Historic City News reporting that today sentencing was held in the murder of 29-year-old convenience store clerk Malav Desai during a robbery that took place on May 19, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at 70 Masters Drive in St Augustine.
Fugitive driving stolen car captured at St Augustine Beach
Last night at about 8:10 p.m., Historic City News learned that St Augustine Beach Police captured a fugitive from North Carolina when he returned to take possession of a reportedly stolen car that was parked in the 10th Street parking lot, just East of A1A Beach Boulevard.
