After about three and a half hours of presentations, public comments, debate and discussion, the St Augustine Planning and Zoning Board, in a split decision, voted 4-2 Tuesday to deny an application by local hotelier Kanti Patel to rezone the former Barnacle Bill’s property from HP-5 to PUD to be used as hotel parking.

The rezoning of the current Barnacle Bills Restaurant on West Castillo Drive from Historic Preservation-5 (HP-5) to Planned Unit Development (PUD) for San Marco Hotel valet parking is on the City Planning and Zoning Board agenda for Tuesday, April 4th.
About 3:07 p.m., Saturday April 1, 2017, Stephen M. Conway, an off-duty deputy, observed a white Ford Expedition in the area of SR-16 and I-95; recognizing it as a vehicle that had been reported stolen by Sumter County authorities.
