SAFER grant used to hire eighteen new firefighters

Public Information Officer Jeremy Robshaw reported to Historic City News that on Thursday, firefighters trained in large animal rescue techniques successfully freed a horse that had become stuck in a muddy ditch next to a set of Florida East Coast Railway tracks.


The St. Augustine Easter Week Festival along with Old Town Trolley Tours of St. Augustine and Ayla’s Acres No-Kill Animal Rescue announced to Historic City News today that actress Loretta Swit will be the grand marshal of the upcoming St. Augustine Easter Parade scheduled for March 27, 2016.
The Florida Department of Transportation reported to Historic City News that they are hosting an Access Management Public Hearing on February 18th from 4:30-6:30 p.m. to discuss proposed median modifications at the intersection of US-1 and Ocean Boulevard.
Michael Shirley, director of the Guana Tolomato Matanzas National Estuarine Research Reserve, informed local Historic City News reporters that five BlueTubes have been installed along their beach in an effort to help keep the beach clean and keep plastic out of the ocean.
St. Johns County is currently accepting applications for the Planning and Zoning Agency. Applicants must be registered to vote in St. Johns County.
