Congressman John L. Mica announced to Historic City News yesterday that out of a $2.5 million request, the US Department of Transportation has awarded the City of St Augustine a $753,000 competitively bid implementation grant to continue the Orange Street pedestrian connection to the Castillo de San Marcos National Monument.

St Augustine sailor loves Navy deployment

After nearly 11 years of active duty service in the Navy and five deployments, Petty Officer 1st Class and St Augustine native George Fricke says he still loves every day he puts on a uniform.
First of all, everyone who knows me knows that I am the poster child for Republican values; am a member of the local Republican club, and I am an elected Precinct Committeeman of the Republican Party of St Johns County, so, don’t be shocked that I have a very conservative opinion of party affiliation.
