Owners of Volusia County manufacturer, iDeal Aluminum Products, Michael Siegel and Doug Brady, based in DeLand, announced to Historic City News that they will relocate its headquarters and manufacturing plant to St. Johns County with plans to take occupancy by the fourth quarter of this year.

This month, I would like to tell you about our Civilian Law Enforcement Academy at the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office. This academy began nearly nine years ago and has been well received. To date over 300 of our citizens have taken the class, and the most recent academy, the 21st, began March25th. The academy meets once a week for eleven weeks and for three hours a night.

A few days ago, Pulitzer Prize winning journalist and author Hedrick Smith spoke to the local community at the Flagler Forum. I was on the panel and wrote this article about what happened and what he talked about; through my eyes.
