I am Denver Cook and I am asking for your vote on August 26th to serve as your county commissioner from District 4.  I am a husband and father; a military veteran; was a small business owner; and am a retired corrections officer.  I am also an American who believes the best government is small, fiscally conservative, and highly effective and efficient focused on infrastructure, public safety and excellence in education.

This month, I would like to tell you about our Civilian Law Enforcement Academy at the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office. This academy began nearly nine years ago and has been well received. To date over 300 of our citizens have taken the class, and the most recent academy, the 21st, began March25th. The academy meets once a week for eleven weeks and for three hours a night.

A few days ago, Pulitzer Prize winning journalist and author Hedrick Smith spoke to the local community at the Flagler Forum. I was on the panel and wrote this article about what happened and what he talked about; through my eyes.
