Historic City News received updates from Public Information Officer, Mark Samson, of the St Augustine Police Department this morning; including highlights from the past two days’ calls, investigations, and arrests.
Northwest District Commander Brian C. Lee reported to Historic City News that Sergeant Robert Dean joined Detectives Samantha English and Andy Stoinoff in serving an arrest warrant on 42-year-old Steven Roberts — the man investigators say is responsible for several residential burglaries in St Johns County.
In 1995, 9-year-old Jimmy Ryce was murdered by Juan Carlos Chavez, and yesterday evening, at 8:17 p.m., 19-years later, a corrections official declared Chavez dead after injecting him with a lethal combination of drugs in the death chamber of Florida State Prison.
