All Historic City News readers can take the daily tours and wine tastings at the San Sebastian Winery and St. Augustine Distillery. Also, admission is free at the Fort Matanzas National Monument, St. Photios Chapel, the Pena-Peck House, the Father Miguel O’Reilly Museum and the Mission Nombre de Dios Museum. Many other local attractions offer discounted admissions to St. Johns County residents, so be sure to ask.

Georgia man kills stepdaughter then self Thursday

Yesterday afternoon, a battalion of St Johns County deputies were converged on the parking lot in front of the BP gas station and convenience store on US-1, north of I-95. A Georgia man, who had just killed his former stepdaughter in Brevard County, was sitting in a parked Ford Focus threatening to commit suicide.

New partnership has goal to end intimate violence

During a luncheon held at the River House in St Augustine on Thursday, Kent Justice was emcee for the launch of a newly organized team of law enforcement and citizen agencies whose mission is to reduce violence in the community on a case-by-case basis.

Armed robber is subject of West Augustine manhunt

St Augustine Police informed Historic City News local reporters that an incident that happened Wednesday morning has led to a manhunt for the person who robbed a woman of her purse at gunpoint.

District schools earn Five Star School Award

Commissioner of Education Pam Stewart announced to Historic City News the names of schools in Florida that have earned the “Five Star School Award” for the 2016-2017 school year. Among over 700 schools statewide, eleven St Johns County schools earned the recognition.
