Upon the retirement of Bill Proctor from what was District 20, and with new district lines drawn through reapportionment, in the Republican Primary Election, three candidates vie to face Rebecca Sue Sharp and write-in candidate Angela Casey in November, when this race will be decided.



Thursday evening, shortly after 5:00 p.m., Historic City News learned that neighbors in the 400 block of Chattan Way called 9-1-1 to report hearing gunshots fired in their otherwise peaceful St Johns neighborhood.

After a two-day trial, a St Johns County jury deliberated for approximately three hours yesterday before finding 42-year-old Clay County man, Isaac Sieh Forh, guilty as charged of Robbery with a Firearm, a first degree felony, punishable by life.
I find it interesting that elections supervisors in Florida have only offered the option of “early voting” since 2004; and yet some Jacksonville activists are clogging up the courts with a lawsuit that would have you to think that two-weeks of in-person voting before Election Day was their God-given right.
County commission District 1 is one of three county commission contests this year; and, one of two that will not be finally decided until the General Election in November; the incumbent in this race has been supported by Historic City News during each of her last two elections — we see no reason to change our position now.
The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission informed local Historic City News reporters in St Augustine that they will conduct regional workshops to present information on the management plan revisions and permitting guidelines for gopher tortoises.
