Bomb scare proved to be false alarm

Wednesday evening at about 8:00 p.m. the information desk at the St. Augustine Outlet Mall, located on S. R. 16 west of I – 95, reported to the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office that they had received an anonymous bomb threat.

Mall security stated to Deputy Sheriff James Hayward that a caller, described as a “male voice that was hard to understand”, told him that “there was a bomb at the NIKE store”. When the security officer asked the caller to repeat themselves, they hung up the telephone instead.

Two vehicles missing – presumed stolen

Deputy Sheriff Rachel Soles was called to Lighthouse Toyota to take a report of two vehicles discovered missing from the dealership’s lot on on U.S. 1 South.

According to the comptroller, after making an extensive search on April 21, it was determined that a blue 2004 Buick LeSabre valued at $9,891.21 and a black 2006 Volkswagen Jetta valued at $16,356.72 were missing – and presumed stolen.

Dedication ceremony Friday

Members of the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office and the family of late Deputy Josh Blyler will meet Friday morning at 10:00 a.m. to dedicate a portion of C.R. 210 (Ponte Vedra) in Deputy Blyler’s memory. The dedication ceremony will be held at the Compass Bank parking lot; C.R. 210 and A1A North.

I was present representing Historic City Media at the press conference called by the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office today to review the known results from the “Operation: D-Day” actions yesterday; around the state and here at home.

St. Johns County Sheriff David B. Shoar spoke to us about the importance of the efforts undertaken in completing this mission which shaped up over the past four months. Shoar told me, “This is part of an ongoing process of identifying and interrupting marijuana distribution in our community.”

An announcement was made this afternoon at a News Conference attended by Historic City Media News at the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office. The conference was hosted by Sheriff David Shoar of St. Johns County and was attended by Sheriff Don Fleming of Flagler County. Also on hand was North Florida HIDTA Executive Director, Ed Williams; and Special Agent in Charge of the Jacksonville Office of F.D.L.E., Dominick Pape.
