Berger makes first cut – from 27 applicants

The Florida Bar reported to Historic City News that St. Augustine Judge Wendy W. Berger has been selected from a field of 27 applicants to be one of thirteen who will be considered to fill the vacancy on The First District Court of Appeals that was created by the resignation of Judge Edward T. Barfield.

Phi Theta Kappa silent auction

Kenya Kelley at St. Johns River Community College reported to Historic City News that the St. Augustine chapter of the Phi Theta Kappa honor society will be holding a silent auction to benefit the PTK scholarship fund on Saturday, December 5th.

The Players Championship Boys and Girls Club

The Players Championship Boys and Girls Club reported to Historic City News that on Thursday, November 19th, the ground breaking ceremonies were held for their new state-of-the-art facility; a 15,000 square foot Boys and Girls Club, located at 555 West King Street in St. Augustine.

Lighting dignitaries named by mayor

The City of St. Augustine tells Historic City News that in past years, the honor of “flipping-the-switch” to light the city’s tree as well as the city itself has been bestowed upon those who have contributed to the betterment of our community; often without recognition.

Stevenson joins in vote to approve rezoning

St. Johns County Commissioner Cyndi Stevenson responded to Historic City News after yesterday’s vote to approve a zoning and land use change that clears the way to build Anastasia Mosquito Control District’s proposed headquarters on Agricultural Center Drive.
