Top ways to help equines
It may be difficult for Historic City News readers to imagine a time when no one was looking out for the welfare of horses, ponies, donkeys and mules; given how much they are a part of the St. Augustine and St. Johns County landscape.



The City of St Augustine has suggested several ways for Historic City News readers to celebrate the return of the famous St. Augustine lions to the west end of the bridge after a six-year hibernation.
Randy Brunson told Historic City News that he has joined his daughter, Tracie Brunson Mara, in opening a thrift store in St. Augustine with a twist — they will also hold auctions at their new location at 5 West San Carlos Avenue.

Betsy Clarkson, Superintendent of Recreation, reported to Historic City News that the Recreation and Parks Department is recruiting volunteers to assist in parks across St. Johns County.
On the opening day of the 2011 Legislative Session, Governor Rick Scott outlined his priorities in his first State of the State Address. Earlier in the day, he thanked crowds of Floridians who traveled to Tallahassee to voice their support for reducing the size of government, cutting taxes and getting Florida back to work.
