School district appointments effective July 1
As of July 1, Historic City News in St Augustine has received word that several personnel changes and appointments will take place within the St Johns County School District, according to an announcement from Superintendent, Dr Joseph Joyner.



Historic City News has learned that, in a three-way contest where the Colonial Spanish Quarter museum property was the “brass ring”, former Philadelphia 76ers President Pat Croce has been given the nod from a panel selected by the University of Florida to turn around a ship that lost money and was subsidized by City taxpayers for years.
With the qualification period now closed, Historic City News readers in St Augustine and St Johns County can begin educating themselves about their choices for various public offices up for election this year.

Laurie Sanderson reported the following St. Augustine and St. Johns County locations to Historic City News where the Florida Department of Transportation will be conducting roadwork that is expected to have an impact on driving, beginning this morning and continuing through the coming week.
Historic City News was on hand at the St Johns County Supervisor of Elections office in St Augustine at noon today when qualifying week officially ended for county, municipal and local district candidates running for office in 2012.
This morning’s 3:00 am single-vehicle crash on SR-206 left a Hastings teenager, Shawn Allen Hagene, dead at the scene; as traffic homicide investigators work to determine what caused the fatal collision.
