Surf Illumination Festival this Saturday
Mayor-elect Andrea Samuels will accept the honor of lighting the brightly decorated holiday tree when the St Augustine Beach Civic Association presents the 12th annual “Surf Illumination Festival”, held at the St Johns County Pier Park.



St Augustine and St Johns County cable television franchisee Comcast Communications, who delivers television programing produced and operated by St Johns County “GTV”, delivered some bad news to its city and county clients, according to an announcement received by Historic City News today.
December 3 – County Commission Meeting
During Monday evening’s regular business meeting of the commission for the City of St Augustine Beach, commissioner Andrea Samuels was chosen to serve as mayor; making her the first woman to hold that office in the incorporated beach community.
Many of Florida’s 161 state parks will be decorated with lights or hosting special holiday activities and Governor Rick Scott has joined the Florida Department of Environmental Protection’s Florida Park Service to invite Historic City News readers to join them as they celebrate the winter holiday season.
Veterans welcome new resident
Historic City News learned from local Associated Press reports that a group of Christians celebrated the placement of a Nativity scene in Florida’s state capitol rotunda yesterday as a means of combating what they called persistent efforts to drive religion from public life.
St Augustine Streets and Grounds Manager, Charlene Putz, reported to Historic City News that beginning Monday, December 9th, and continuing through Friday, December 13th, the city will be resurfacing Avenida Menendez, from King Street south to St Francis Street.
