There are several bills in Tallahassee, which will authorize spending our tax dollars on stadium improvements for billionaire sports owners and millionaire athletes.
If you’ve ever put salted peanuts into a bottle of Coca-Cola, you understand that the chemical reaction between the two will cause the contents to erupt like a volcano. If the bottle was capped, and the pressure had nowhere to go, it could explode.
Laurie Sanderson reported to Historic City News that the first total closure of the Crescent Beach Bridge is coming in about two-weeks; made necessary for steel and machinery work at the center span — part of the electrical and mechanical repairs to the drawbridge.

The St Johns County School Board is going to hide behind the recommendation of their Attorney, Frank Upchurch, and deny students their First Amendment right to pray.
Letter: Hoping for workshop before graduation

At yesterday’s School Board meeting, several speakers spoke in favor of allowing our students to select a representative to give an inspirational message at graduation… and asked the school board to workshop the topic and set a policy for it.
In an ongoing effort to bring greater awareness to sexual assault and child abuse, Betty Griffin House held a fundraiser coordinated by Linda Flahardy and her committee at the World Golf Hall of Fame on April 9th.
Tuesday evening, the Saint Augustine Tea Party reported to Historic City News that, during the course of the regularly scheduled open meeting, an election was held to replace the Chairman position, resigned by David Heimbold.
No longer with Lieutenant Governor Jennifer Carroll at his side, yesterday afternoon, Governor Rick Scott signed into law House Bill 155; the legislative response to a three-year federal and state investigation into illegal gambling at Internet cafes affiliated with St Augustine-based Allied Veterans of the World.
