Members of the St Augustine High School Class of 1975 celebrated their 40-year anniversary last night during the Class Reunion held at the pavilion on the grounds of The Fountain of Youth Archeological Park.
Private parking lots free to charge significantly higher rates
The most consistent and predictable complaint heard from Historic City News readers in St Augustine, has to be parking — finding on-street parking can be a challenge. Available spots in managed lots often require a monthly pass, or are reserved for employees and business customers, or are being fraudulently occupied by former city officials using expired “free parking” passes.
Elementary school students evacuated during bomb scare
At 10:41 a.m. this morning, local Historic City News reporters were informed that St Augustine Police were responding to a bomb threat at R. B. Hunt Elementary School on Anastasia Boulevard.
County closes Robert-Laryn Skate Park without warning
St Johns County Director of Communications Michael Ryan, confirmed for local Historic City News reporters that a compliance dispute with a private vendor has resulted in the closure of Robert-Laryn Skate Park until further notice.
FDOT road repairs and maintenance report
Laurie Sanderson reported the following St Augustine and St Johns County locations to Historic City News where the Florida Department of Transportation will be conducting roadwork that is expected to have an impact on driving, beginning this morning and continuing through the coming week.
Two agenda items before Planning and Zoning Board
Discussion and public comment will be heard by the St Augustine Planning and Zoning Board related to proposed revisions to the zoning code related to parking provisions for colleges and universities, and revising definitions and parking provisions for dormitory, dwelling, hotel, motel, and rooming house.
