The City of St Augustine announced to local Historic City News reporters that their town hall meeting, originally scheduled for Tuesday, February 7th, has been rescheduled to avoid conflicting with Big Brothers and Big Sisters of St. Johns County’s “Tips for Kid’s Sake” event.
The City of St Augustine was ordered by a Federal Court in 2009 to allow artists to create and sell paintings, prints, photographs and sculpture in public spaces; ruling that such was First Amendment protected activity.

Historic City News was informed that at about 8:23 a.m. this morning, firefighters and paramedics from the St Augustine Fire Department, St Johns County Fire Rescue, and first responders from the St Augustine Police Department and Sheriff’s Office, responded to Cat’s Paw Marina located on the San Sebastian River at Nix Boat Yard Road.

The Internal Revenue Service can revoke St Johns Police Athletic League’s non-profit, tax exempt, charitable status under 501(c)(3) for engaging in political campaigns — that includes the campaign for local Sheriff David B. Shoar.
Assistant State Attorney Spencer S. Hathaway, Public Information Officer for the Office of State Attorney of the Seventh Judicial Circuit, confirmed today that Robert Gober, III, formerly a St Johns County Sheriff’s Sergeant, surrendered himself to arrest at the Putnam County jail.
United States Service Academy candidates from St Johns County area schools will be presented in a ceremony this Sunday, February 5th, by Congressman Ron DeSantis. The United States Service Academies are federal academies for the undergraduate education and training of commissioned officers for the United States Armed Forces.
U.S. District Judge Timothy J. Corrigan has sentenced 63-year-old Jose Salvador Lantigua to 14 years in federal prison for bank fraud and conspiracy to commit mail and wire fraud. His wife, Daphne Simpson, was sentenced to 5 years’ probation for her role, but she had already served 17 months of pretrial detention. Both will also be ordered to make complete restitution to the victims of the charged offenses.
