Thursday, June 15th, was the 11th annual commemoration of World Elder Abuse Awareness Day. Historic City News participated in a local volunteer effort to distribute information to help readers better identify crimes against a growing population of our most vulnerable residents.
Nicole Jebbia reported to Historic City News that the following programs will be available at the Anastasia Island Library during the month of July. Some programs are designed for kids while others are aimed at adults.
Historic City News readers will find City Hall and the Lightner Museum undergoing termite treatment during the first weekend in July. The entire structure will be tented, necessitating the closure of the building and certain streets in the vicinity.
Russell Sampson Road, from St. Johns Parkway (CR-2209) to east of the SR-9B construction site, will close Monday through Thursday nights (June 19-22) from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m., according to an announcement received by Historic City News from FDOT spokesperson Debra Delgado on Friday.
Historic City News was notified by Florida Department of Transportation Public Information Officer, Debbie Delgado, that traffic will be impacted at the following
St Augustine and St Johns County locations where roadwork is being conducted.
Be alert to lane closures and temporary detours, as well as increased congestion in these areas. FDOT employees and contractors will be working on the roadways and need your full attention.
Patricia Ponder, a spokesperson for the St. Augustine/Ketterlinus High School Alumni Association, reported to Historic City News the announcement of this year’s scholarship winners.
Historic City News readers are invited to join staff and volunteers at the north or south boat launch (depending on the tide) at the Guana Dam Recreational Area for a free family seining activity on July 8th and 22nd from 8:30 a.m. – 10:30 a.m.
