24,440 early votes cast

In what started out to be a light turnout of early voters during the first week, 9,156 compared to over 20,000 during the first week in the last General Election, this week’s response closed the early voting session with a stronger finish.

St. Johns County Tax Collector Dennis W. Hollingsworth, CFC, tells Historic City News that property owners can expect to receive a tax bill for their share of $349,312,788.38 from the 2010 tax roll beginning Monday, November 1st.

St. Johns County Communication Manager, Karen Pan, told local Historic City News reporters that all branches of the St. Johns County Public Library System will be closed to the public on Thursday, November 4th.

Noise violations could hit $499 per shout

Planning and Building Director Mark Knight presented St. Augustine City Commissioners with a proposed noise ordinance revision at their regular meeting last night that will increase fines for violations to $499 for repeat offenses.

Storm-water reserves may pay for Riberia project

Historic City News will be watching as St. Augustine City Commissioners meet on Monday evening at 5:00 p.m. in the Alcazar Room at City Hall to consider a transfer of $3.4 million from storm-water reserves to begin the Riberia Street improvement project in January.
