Miner responds to Crist decision from Kuwait
Yesterday evening, St. Johns County Commissioner Mark P. Miner, who will turn 27 years-old on Wednesday while deployed in Kuwait with the Florida National Guard, reacted on the social networking website “Facebook” to the announcement that Governor Charlie Crist is changing his political party affiliation.

St. Johns County Fire Rescue announced to local reporters with Historic City News the retirement of Fire Prevention Chief and Fire Marshal Frank McElroy today; following 26 years of career service to St. Johns County.
“Today’s bill signing is the last step in a historic effort that benefits both the Seminole Tribe and the entire state of Florida,” Florida Governor Charlie Crist told Historic City News reporters. “Following three years of healthy debate and deliberation, the children and families of Florida are now the beneficiaries of much-needed money that will be used to fund critical needs such as education.”
Bill Harriss, who is retiring after twelve years as City Manager, told reporters from Historic City News that his is pleased with the city commission’s decision to promote Chief Operations Officer, John Regan as his successor when he retires this summer.
On a motion made by Commissioner Nancy Sikes-Kline and approved by unanimous vote, Historic City News reporters watched as the City Commission accepted the resignation of 25-year employee and 12-year City Manager Bill Harriss, and, in the same moment decided to begin contract negotiation to replace him with the city’s current Chief Operations Officer, John Regan.
Tax Collector Dennis W. Hollingsworth, CFC, told local reporters at Historic City News that, despite difficult economic times throughout our state and nation, St. Johns County’s tax collection rates remain strong.
