West King Street has just been reopened after investigators clear the scene of a double homicide that left two young St Augustine residents dead.

District Sergeant Michael Quade informed local Historic City News reporters that the Florida Highway Patrol is continuing to monitor ongoing woods fires that have menaced Dupont Center during the past several days.

The Florida Department of Corrections reported to Historic City News that Richard Louis Orzechowski, a 58-year-old sexual offender, was released from state custody on Friday February 27th; however, as of today, he has not registered or complied with his responsibilities.

This morning, Historic City News readers who’s morning commute included traveling on US-1 and on SR-16 faced major delays after a tree trimming truck collided with overhead powerlines at SR-16 and Lewis Speedway.

At about 6:56 a.m. this morning, Historic City News was informed by the Florida Highway Patrol that a 2014 Black Ford Fiesta, driven by 32-year-old Danielle Billings of Palatka, was traveling eastbound on SR-16.

Orange Park Medical Center released 62-year-old David James Freer from the hospital today, but not to continue his recuperation from Sunday night’s fight at home. Instead, St Johns County deputies were there to take Freer into custody and transport him to jail.

A 56-year old St. Johns County man has been charged with using a computer to solicit a parent or guardian of a minor child, based on an arrest warrant obtained by the Tallahassee Police Department that was served at the defendant’s residence on Tuesday afternoon.

On the evening of November 16, 2013, Historic City News reported that 15-year-old Haley Nicole Smith went for a walk with her friends. Hours later she was pronounced dead while undergoing emergency surgery for injuries sustained in a hit-and-run crash on Kenton Morrison Road.
