The St. Augustine City Commission voted unanimously last Monday, June 23, to accept Commissioner Roxanne Horvath’s plea for almost $75,000 in consulting fees to pay a Gainesville man to “facilitate” the fifteen-handpicked volunteers that will tell us where we want to be in fifteen or twenty years.

Along with 57 other bills, Historic City News learned that Florida Governor Rick Scott has signed into law the controversial “warning shot” bill; giving Floridians some protection from criminal prosecution if they threaten to use a firearm, or even if they actually squeeze off a warning shot while defending themselves from a credible threat.

Candidates filing for election in St Johns County set record

Supervisor of Elections Vicky Oakes reported to Historic City News this afternoon that at the close of Qualifying Week, today at 12:00 noon, a record had been set for the St Johns County Elections Office – 90 candidates qualified for the 2014 election cycle.
