Of the five county commission districts, District 2 is the largest in area. My wife, Kathy, and I have lived in this district for almost 14 years and I have served the people of our county for over seven years. I have enjoyed doing so and am honored to represent the residents of District 2 and St. Johns County.


On January 24th, Historic City News opened a public poll to see how our readers feel about the upcoming election for mayor of St Augustine. The polling process on our website is controlled, but it is not infallible. We don’t represent that it is reflective of anything other than the opinions expressed by those readers who cast the 228 ballots that were tabulated.
In a move that was highly controversial at the time, in November 2010, the St Augustine City Commission moved to spend $300,000 to acquire the M&M Market property located at 102 Bridge Street.
Under increased pressure from the community, Historic City News readers, and its editor, the St Augustine City Commission will hear a proposal to restore Internet monitoring of all city commission meetings from Director of Public Affairs, Paul K Williamson, at their regular Monday evening meeting.
The craft beer craze, which has seen smaller brewers grow rapidly in the last few years, has transformed the marketing of beer. Now, breweries cater to customers who select the types of beer, such as a pale ale or wheat beer, before selecting the brand; much in the same way wine drinkers opt for merlot or pinot noir.
The expansive new $12 million St Johns County Health and Human Services building has begun construction; lot clearing began even before the contracts were finalized. Plans revealed Tuesday have some Historic City News readers already referring to the new complex as the “Gauze Mahal”.
Historic City News was notified by City Manager John Regan this morning that yesterday, the City put Comcast “on notice” regarding the continued disruption of broadcast of local government meetings as required by their franchise agreement and state law.
An application, tabled in November, for a certificate of demolition of a one-time prominent home in the Model Land Company National Register Historic District, was denied by the Historic Architectural Review Board during their regular meeting January 16th.
