November 19 – County Commission Meeting
The regular meeting of the St Johns County Board of Commissioners was held Tuesday November 19, 2013, in the County Auditorium in the St Johns County Administration Palace located at 500 San Sebastian View in St Augustine.



In what some are calling a “surprise”, and others are calling “expected”, the last junior member of the St Johns County Board of Commissioners has been tapped to serve as Vice Chairman. Rachael Bennett, who defeated the sitting chairman, Ken Bryan, in the last Republican Primary Election, was nominated by Ron Sanchez, seconded by Jay Morris, and appointed without opposition.
During this morning’s meeting of the St Johns County commission, Historic City News learned that Dr. Predrag Bulic has accomplished a goal which he set out to achieve when he began employment as the District 23 Chief Medical Examiner; national accreditation for his office that investigates all violent, suspicious or unusual deaths.
St Augustine City Clerk, Alison Ratkovic, has provided Historic City News an updated agenda for next week’s joint meeting of the St Johns County Commission and St Augustine City Commission in a joint workshop.
The St Augustine City Commission will host the St Johns County Board of County Commissioners during a joint, public workshop to address two issues of mutual concern; previously covered by Historic City News.
Historic City News has been notified that a one-time prominent home in the Model Land Company Historic District, is set to be demolished if the owner receives the approval being sought from the Historic Architectural Review Board.

Telling reporters in a televised newscast yesterday, St Johns County Commission chairman, Jay Morris, said the goal of a top-to-bottom analysis of county services is to avoid doing the very thing his critics say he has been guilty of during the past two budget years — “kicking the can down the road”.
