St Johns County Deputy Sheriff Scott James O’Connell, the brother of homicide victim Michelle O’Connell, was arrested and charged with domestic violence battery yesterday, a first-degree misdemeanor.

St Augustine police reported to Historic City News the July 4th arrest of a man they say committed two armed robberies in downtown St Augustine during the past two days.

Thursday afternoon, Historic City News learned that a 38-year-old Ponte Vedra Beach man was arrested on a felony warrant charging him with committing a sexual crime against a child less than 12-years-old.

Charges are pending against 34-year-old Ebony Nicole Simmons of Gainesville, after she packed 12 occupants into her black 2005 Jeep Liberty and overturned on I-95 this afternoon at about 4:00 p.m.

Troop G of the Florida Highway Patrol has asked Historic City News readers to come forward with any information they may have regarding a fatal single-vehicle crash that occurred in Flagler County on I-95 at about 5:55 a.m. on June 25, 2017.

St Johns County and Jacksonville Fire Rescue are on the scene of two active residential structure fires at this time, according to a report filed with Historic City News this hour.

At 8:35 p.m. Friday evening, the Florida Highway Patrol informed local Historic City News reporters that they are monitoring a wildfire around I-95 and C-214 which may affect roadways in St. Johns County.
