Governor vists business development expo

Historic City News has been informed that Governor Charlie Crist, continuing his commitment to strengthening Florida’s economy, visited a St. Johns County business development expo to promote economic development programs for Florida’s job seekers and businesses.

Dedication of Hamilton Upchurch Park

Members of the St. Augustine City Commission will lead a dedication ceremony to officially mark the opening of the city’s newest park, the Hamilton Upchurch Neighborhood Park.

Florida’s Birding and FotoFest

Jay Humphreys reported to Historic City News that Florida’s Birding & FotoFest will take place along the Northeast coast of Florida April 22nd through April 26, 2009.

Weekend DUI checkpoints

Deputies with the Sheriff’s Office Traffic Unit will be out in force Friday evening and early Saturday morning in an effort to remove impaired drivers from the road according to an announcement received by Historic City News this afternoon.

Tax Day Tea Party in old city

According to reliable sources, Historic City News has learned that there were over 1000 people total who attended the Tax Day Tea Party at the Castillo de San Marcos National Monument today between 12:00 noon and 5:00 p.m.

St Johns Master Plan – first phase presented

Communications Director Jay Humphreys with the St. Augustine Visitors & Convention Bureau reported to Historic City News that the results of the first phase of the destination master plan for St. Johns County will be presented to the public at the county convention center at World Golf Village.

Community

Spring Art & Craft Festival

St. Augustine Art Association reported to Historic City News that they will present their Annual Art & Craft Festival Saturday and Sunday, April 18th through April 19th, from 10:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. at Francis Field.

National Heritage Area effort continues

According to an article published in The St. Augustine Report and received by Historic City News this morning, the continuing effort to create a National Heritage Area in St. Augustine has brought in Historic Preservation Officer and Board Chair of the Santa Cruz Valley Heritage Alliance Dr. Jonathan Mabry of Tucson AZ.
