Missing sex offender located in Putnam County

A 43-year-old registered sex offender, Joseph Raymond Tavernia, who went missing after he removed his ankle monitoring bracelet in December, has been located and taken into custody in Putnam County this evening.

City has no concerns about $400 gifts to department heads

During Monday’s city commission meeting in St Augustine, Historic City News editor Michael Gold addressed the mayor and commissioners to call attention to money being paid by city taxpayers so that department heads and their spouses can attend the $400.00 per couple Menendez Noche de Gala.

Off-duty police officer disarms knife-wielding attacker

St Augustine police reported to Historic City News this morning that an off-duty police sergeant intervened when he observed two men fighting on the sidewalk near Oyster Creek, after one of men reached into his waistband and pulled out a knife.
