Barber appeals verdict gets new lawyer
Justin Mertis Barber, an unassuming 39 year-old man, weighing only 150 lbs. and standing 5’09”, was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole by a St. Johns County jury on September 15, 2006 for the first degree murder of his wife April Barber.

An autopsy of Thomas Frank Hoagland, who lived at 136 Island Cottage Way in St. Augustine, will be required before Flagler Beach Police will say what caused the death of the man whose body washed ashore Friday.

Bartram woods fire re-kindled
Community Affairs Coordinator, Sergeant Charles E. Mulligan, reported to Historic City News that a fire in northwest St. Johns County yesterday, has rekindled today — sending plumes of smoke and ash high enough in the air to be seen as far away as Mandarin.
