City employee’s heroic act earns recognition

After their holiday-hiatus, Historic City News government reporters will be watching as the St. Augustine City Commission returns for their first meeting of the New Year tomorrow; beginning at 5:00 p.m. in the Alcazar Room, on the first floor of City Hall, located at 75 King Street.

One dead in early morning crash

St Johns County Sheriff’s Traffic Homicide Investigator Joseph McGinnis reported to Historic City News that the Traffic Unit responded to the scene of a single-vehicle traffic collision that left the driver dead and two passengers with serious injuries.

Staff proposes name for Archaeology Center

Local psychologist Sue Adine Middleton-Bates, Ph.D., donated her Davis Shores home to the City as a center for its Archaeology Division in 2007; subject to a stipulation reserving the life estate of her husband, Dr. Henry Bates.

Brush fire off CR-208 under control

Jeremy Robshaw, Public Information Officer with St. Johns County Fire Rescue, informed Historic City News local reporters that an estimated 7-10 acre fire burning off of CR-208, is currently contained and under control.

When Historic City News reported from the scene where a citizen discovered a boot along with the remains of a human foot yesterday, the thick, dense woods made it unclear how much other evidence could be located.

Monday offers glimpse of First America Foundation

Monday night, Historic City News local government reporters will watch as First America Foundation, Inc. Chairman Donald W. Wallis faces members of the St. Augustine City Commission – and the public – and may give some idea of how he is using the $275,000 in “seed money” he was given.
