When the St Augustine City Commission convenes Monday afternoon at 4:00 p.m., Historic City News reporters and commissioners will receive a pre-budget briefing from City Comptroller Mark Litzinger, and members will have the opportunity to establish the Fiscal 2013-2014 tentative millage rate.
Never stand between a Veteran and hot food

One of the items on the reporters “Things I need to know” list is to never attempt to interview a person during a meal. This holds doubly true if that person is a US Veteran. They have a glare that can freeze an attacking tiger in mid-leap.
Historic City News came across an interesting new business in St Augustine that rents boutique restroom facilities for events — but Lovely Loo Portable Restrooms LLC isn’t your average portable toilet.
The promoter of the two-day Mumford and Sons Gentlemen of the Road Stopover at Francis Field in St Augustine, will pay the city a grand total of $25,000 in commissions on ticket sales from the event — however, the City Comptroller, Mark Litzinger, will ask the city commission for approval to pay twice that amount to the county for “consulting”.

Dear Editor:
I respectfully disagree with St Johns County Commissioner Ron Sanchez’s assumptions regarding the Health and Human Services Center; currently the subject of his letter that appeared in Historic City News this week.
Historic City News learned that at their regular business meeting on Tuesday, the St Johns County Board of County Commissioners unanimously voted to support the St Johns River Alliance’s initiative to designate the entire St Johns River as a paddling trail or blueway.
